Terms of Service
In short
- RelayReply places phone calls for you with an AI voice. You tell it what you need; it talks to the other side; you make the decisions on question cards; it says your answers.
- On every call the AI says it is an AI and that the call is transcribed, and that it is calling for you. You can't turn that off during the beta.
- You decide who to call and why. You are responsible for having any permission the law requires for your calls, for example before an AI voice calls someone's mobile phone.
- Not for emergencies. RelayReply can't call 911. Not a relay service: it is not a Telecommunications Relay Service and not 711.
- AI makes mistakes. Check anything important.
- Plans renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time in Settings; you keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for. No partial refunds, with one goodwill exception (section 7.10).
- Fair use. Each account has limits, and we warn you before you reach one.
- Disputes go to individual arbitration, not class actions, unless you opt out within 30 days.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover
1.1 RelayReply is operated by TooAvid Technologies LLC, 5500 Sunrise Highway, Unit 50 #1108, Massapequa, NY 11758 ("we", "us").
1.2 These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and us for the RelayReply website, web app, and any RelayReply mobile app (together, the "Service").
1.3 These documents are part of the Terms:
- the Privacy Policy,
- the Acceptable Use Policy,
- every acknowledgment you give in the app (see section 5), and
- the plan, price and renewal terms shown when you buy or change a plan.
1.4 You accept the Terms by tapping I agree when you create your account or when we show you a new version. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1.5 Changes. We may change these Terms. When we make a material change, we will tell you in the app or by email and ask you to agree to the new version before your next real call. Changes don't apply to calls made before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can cancel and stop using the Service. Price changes follow section 7.4.
1.6 The beta. The Service is in beta. Features can change, and some are not offered yet. These Terms describe what the beta does.
2. What RelayReply is, and what it is not
2.1 What it is. RelayReply is an AI calling assistant for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, who have trouble speaking on the phone, or who would rather not make a call themselves. It places outbound phone calls for you. During a call:
- an AI voice speaks to the other side;
- you read live captions;
- when something needs your decision, the app shows a question card, and the AI says your answer; and
- after the call you get an outcome summary and, if you keep transcripts, a transcript.
2.2 Not a Telecommunications Relay Service. RelayReply is not a Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) under 47 U.S.C. § 225. It is not certified by the FCC, not paid for by the TRS Fund, not a 711 service, and does not use human communications assistants. If you need TRS, dial 711 or use an FCC-certified provider.
2.3 Not for emergencies. RelayReply cannot call 911 or other emergency or N11 numbers (it refuses them), and it is not a replacement for your phone. In an emergency, use your phone's own emergency calling, or text 911 where text-to-911 is available. If you forward calls from your phone to your RelayReply number, an emergency call-back to you may reach voicemail instead of you.
2.4 Not professional advice. The AI does not give medical, legal, financial or other professional advice, and nothing it says on a call or in a chat is advice from us.
2.5 US only. The Service is for calls to and from US phone numbers by people in the United States.
3. Your account
3.1 Eligibility. You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract.
3.2 Personal and business use. You may use RelayReply for your own affairs, and for your own work, for example a small business calling its suppliers, or an employee calling a vendor for their job. You may not use it for telemarketing, cold or sales calls, bulk calling, debt collection, or to make calls for other people as a service. (A plan for employers and teams may come later.)
3.3 Your information. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date, including your name and the phone number you verify.
3.4 Security. You sign in with a one-time email code or with Google. Keep access to your email and devices secure. You are responsible for calls placed and answers given from your account. Tell us at once at support@relayreply.com if you think someone else is using it.
3.5 One person per account. Don't share your account or let someone else make calls from it, except someone helping you who you supervise (you remain responsible).
4. How calls work
4.1 Your mission. Before a call you tell RelayReply who to call and what you need. The app may ask follow-up questions. You review the plan and start the call.
4.2 The announcement. At the start of every call, the AI tells whoever answers that it is an AI assistant, that it is calling for you and that you are following the call and making the decisions, and that the call is transcribed so you can read it. Then it speaks as your assistant ("Jordan would like to..."). If someone new takes over the call, it tells them too. You can't turn the announcement off during the beta.
4.3 Choosing the words. By default the announcement names you and gives no reason. You may choose a preset that explains why you use RelayReply (for example, "someone who is Deaf"), or write your own. Your own words are checked for every required part, and we may refuse words that could mislead (for example, words that say a human is speaking). A preset that names a condition tells the other side about it; choose it only if you want them to know.
4.4 You make the decisions. The AI handles routine conversation that follows from your mission (for example, giving your name for an order). It asks you, on a question card, about anything that is your decision, such as accepting a price or an appointment or sharing personal details. Money and sensitive answers need a second tap ("Approve").
- What you approve, type or say yourself on a call is your own statement, and the AI passes it on for you.
- If the AI says something you didn't approve and that goes beyond your mission, that isn't your agreement just because the AI said it. Correct it with the other side as soon as you can, and tell us.
- A card tap is how you tell the AI what to say. It doesn't replace a signature, a written agreement, or any other step the other side or the law requires for a transaction.
4.5 If the other side objects.
- To talking with an AI: the AI pauses and asks you what to do. You can talk with them yourself or end the call. Once per call you can ask the AI to explain politely and ask whether it may continue; it carries on only if they agree.
- To the transcription: every call is transcribed (that's how you follow it), so the call can't go on. The AI says a polite goodbye, and the app shows how to call through 711 instead.
4.6 Talking yourself. You can unmute and speak yourself on a call. Your own words are transcribed and captioned like the rest of the call.
4.7 Fair use and limits. To keep the Service fair and affordable, each account has limits on how much it can use at once and per day (for example, calls, mission planning, and checks of new numbers). We'll warn you in the app before you reach a limit. If one account uses far more than is normal, we may limit it after a warning. If the Service's total spending passes a safety limit, we may pause new calls and new mission planning for a while for everyone; we'll say so in the app, and your history and chats stay available.
4.8 We may end or refuse calls. We may refuse to place a call, end a call, or pause the AI if we believe it breaks these Terms or the law, or puts someone at risk, when a limit in 4.7 applies, and when your spending cap is reached.
5. Permissions and the law
This section matters most. Please read it.
5.1 How the Service works. You decide whether to call, whom to call, what the call is about, what the AI may say on your behalf, and when the call happens. The AI acts on your instructions. This describes how the Service works; it doesn't decide who the law treats as making a call, which depends on the facts and the law.
5.2 Your promises. Each time you place a call, you promise (represent) that:
- you have every consent or permission the law requires for the call, including for a call with an AI ("artificial") voice and for its live transcription, or that none is required;
- the call is not telemarketing, a sales or cold call, debt collection, or part of bulk calling (see the Acceptable Use Policy);
- what you tell us about places, including where you or the other side are, is true to the best of your knowledge; and
- you are calling about your own affairs or your own work, or about someone else's only with their permission.
5.3 The announcement doesn't replace permission. Saying at the start of a call that it's an AI doesn't supply a permission the law says you need before the call. Rules on artificial-voice calls can apply to mobile phones, home phones and some business lines, and can depend on the call's purpose. If you're not sure the person or business you're calling would agree to a call like this, ask them first.
5.4 The mobile acknowledgment. We look up whether a number is a mobile phone. When it is, you must read and agree to the mobile acknowledgment before your first call to it. Federal law (the Telephone Consumer Protection Act) treats AI voices as "artificial" voices, and a call with an artificial voice to a mobile phone generally needs the called party's prior express consent unless an exception applies. Your acknowledgment:
- is part of this agreement;
- is remembered for that number for one year, so we don't ask before every call; after a year we ask again;
- is not a one-year permission. If the person tells you to stop, the number now belongs to someone else, or you're calling for a different reason than the one they agreed to, it no longer covers your calls, and you should not call that number with RelayReply until you have their OK again.
5.5 What we record about it. We keep a record of each acknowledgment and of what was announced on each call (the wording and its version, your choice, and the time). It records your statement, not the other side's consent. We keep a call's record for 5 years from the call, and an acknowledgment's for 5 years after it stops covering calls, then delete them unless a legal hold requires longer, even if you delete your calls or your account (see the Privacy Policy).
5.6 Your risk. To the extent the law allows, you make your calls at your own risk. Consent, AI and recording laws differ from place to place and change, and may apply to you even when we let you make the call.
5.7 People you call have their own rights. The people you call never agreed to these Terms. If a call breaks a law that protects them, they may have a claim against you, and possibly against us, whatever these Terms say.
5.8 No legal advice. Nothing in the app is legal advice. If you're not sure the law allows a call, don't make it, or ask a lawyer.
6. Acceptable use
You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In short: no emergencies; no harassment; no telemarketing, cold calls, bulk calling or debt collection; no calling for other people as a service; no fraud or pretending to be someone else; and nothing against the law.
7. Plans, billing and minutes
7.1 Plans. Current plans and prices are on the plans page. At the time of this draft:
| Plan | Price | Included |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $17.99 a month | 60 minutes a month, a RelayReply number |
| Plus | $44.99 a month | 200 minutes a month, a RelayReply number |
| Pay as you go | 40¢ a minute | No included minutes; no number |
Subscribers pay 30¢ a minute for minutes beyond their plan. Prices exclude taxes, which we add where required.
7.2 Payments. Payments are handled by Stripe. You authorize us (via Stripe) to charge your card for your plan, overage and pay-as-you-go use, and taxes. A card is required for any paid plan, including pay as you go.
7.3 Automatic renewal. A plan renews automatically every month at its then-current price, and your card is charged on each renewal, until you cancel. Before you subscribe, the checkout shows the price, how often you're charged, that it renews until you cancel, and how to cancel; you agree to that before paying. We email you a confirmation that says the same. We also send a reminder once a year for as long as your plan renews, with what you pay and how to cancel.
7.4 Price changes. We'll email you at least 7 days, and no more than 30 days, before a new price applies to your plan, with the new price, the date and how to cancel. If you don't want the new price, cancel before that date. If you're charged the new price and didn't agree to it, you can cancel within 14 days after that charge and we'll refund the unused part of that period.
7.5 How minutes count. A call's minutes run from when the other side answers until the call ends, billed by the second. Ringing is free. Time on hold counts. Practice calls during sign-up are free.
7.6 Included minutes refresh on your billing day each period. Unused minutes do not roll over.
7.7 Overage and pay as you go are billed on your next invoice. We also charge your card early each time your unbilled usage reaches $20.
7.8 Spending warning and cap. You can set a spending warning (we suggest $10) and an optional hard cap. At the cap the AI ends the call politely.
7.9 Changing plans. An upgrade (Starter to Plus) starts a new Plus month right away at the full price, with no credit for the rest of your Starter month; unused Starter minutes move over until the next refresh. The app shows exactly what you'll pay today before you confirm. A downgrade takes effect on your next billing day.
7.10 Cancelling and refunds.
- Cancel any time in Settings > Billing, online, in a few taps. Your plan, its minutes and your number last until the end of the period you paid for, then stop.
- No partial refunds for the rest of a period, except as 7.4 says or the law requires.
- Goodwill refund. If you were charged for a plan by mistake (for example, you forgot to cancel), and you ask within 7 days of the charge and have used under 10 minutes since it, we'll refund that charge and the plan ends. Ask at support@relayreply.com.
- Pay-as-you-go minutes you used are never refunded, and neither are overage minutes you used.
7.11 Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe retries for about a week and emails you. Real calls keep working for 7 days, then pause until a payment goes through. Your history, chats and practice calls stay available.
7.12 Referrals. If a friend joins with your link and their first payment goes through and isn't refunded within 7 days, you each get 15 free minutes. Referral minutes last 12 months and are used after plan minutes. They have no cash value. We may cancel referral minutes gained by abuse (for example, referring yourself).
7.13 Questions about a charge. Contact us first at support@relayreply.com within 60 days of a charge you think is wrong.
8. Your RelayReply phone number
8.1 Who gets one. Starter and Plus subscribers choose a local RelayReply number after paying. Calls you place show that number. Pay as you go has no number.
8.2 It's our number, assigned to you. The number is provided through our phone provider and assigned to you while your plan is active. You don't own it. During the beta, numbers can't be moved (ported) to another provider.
8.3 When you lose it. We release the number back to the phone company (and can't get it back) when:
- you cancel: at the end of your paid period;
- payment fails: 30 days after calls pause;
- you switch to pay as you go: when your plan ends; or
- you delete your account: right away.
8.4 Voicemail. Calls to your number go to voicemail (up to 3 minutes) with your greeting. We transcribe voicemails and, if you choose, email them to you.
8.5 Texts. Texts to your number are shown read-only; you can't reply. They're kept 90 days, then deleted. You can choose 30 days, 90 days, 1 year or keep them, in Settings. We email you 7 days before texts are deleted.
8.6 Forwarding. You can forward missed calls (or all calls) from your own phone to your RelayReply number using your carrier's codes. If you forward all calls, emergency call-backs may reach voicemail.
9. Your content and your data
9.1 Your content means your missions, answers, About me facts, messages, and the transcripts and outcomes of your calls. You own your content. You give us permission to use it only to provide, secure and support the Service, as the Privacy Policy describes.
9.2 Transcripts. By default we keep your transcripts, encrypted, so you can read them and ask about past calls. Turning off "Keep my transcripts" in Settings stops saving new ones; "Delete all my transcripts" deletes the ones already saved. Either way, calls are still processed live by our AI providers to make the call and the captions work, and we still keep each call's plan, question cards, answers and outcome. We don't keep audio recordings of your calls (voicemails left for you are kept until you delete them).
9.3 About me. Facts you save in About me may be used by the AI on your calls. Keep them accurate. About me refuses card numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords and bank account numbers; please don't share them on calls either unless you have to.
9.4 Other people's information. Calls involve other people. You're responsible for having the right to share any information about others that you give the AI.
9.5 Feedback. If you send us ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
10. AI limitations
10.1 The AI can mishear, misunderstand, say something wrong, miss a question, or make something up. Captions and transcripts can contain errors. Outcome summaries can leave things out.
10.2 Check anything important with the other side or in writing, especially prices, dates, amounts, account details and medical or legal matters.
10.3 Phone calls can drop, lag or fail for reasons outside our control (networks, the other side's phone system, our providers).
10.4 We are not responsible for what the other side says or does, or for whether they accept a call from an AI.
11. Our service and providers
11.1 We use third-party providers to run the Service (listed in the Subprocessors list). Their outages can affect the Service.
11.2 We may change, add or remove features. If we remove a paid feature in a way that matters, we'll tell you and you can cancel.
11.3 You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer or automate the Service, except as the law allows.
12. Suspension, termination and deleting your account
12.1 You can stop using the Service and cancel at any time.
12.2 Deleting your account. You can delete your account in Settings. When you confirm:
- any plan is cancelled at once, with no refund for the rest of the period (unless 7.10's goodwill refund applies), and your number is released;
- your account, chats, transcripts, About me, voicemails, texts and settings are deleted from our live systems right away, and from backups as the Privacy Policy says; and
- we keep only what the Privacy Policy lists as kept after deletion (for example, billing records and the records in 5.5), for the reasons it gives.
12.3 We may suspend or close your account, or refuse calls, if you break these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if your use creates legal risk or harm, if required by law, or if you don't pay. Where reasonable, we'll warn you first, tell you why and give you a chance to fix it.
12.4 When your account closes, sections 5, 9, 13 to 17 and any unpaid amounts survive.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any call will reach anyone or achieve anything, or that any call is lawful where you make it.
14. Limitation of liability
14.1 To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill.
14.2 To the extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims about the Service is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) $100.
14.3 Some states don't allow some of these limits; then they apply only as far as allowed. Nothing here limits liability for our fraud, gross negligence or willful misconduct, or anything else that can't be limited by law.
15. Your indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you will cover us (TooAvid Technologies LLC, its members, employees and contractors) for claims, fines, damages and reasonable legal costs to the extent they come from:
- your unlawful conduct on or about a call;
- a promise or acknowledgment of yours (section 5) that was materially untrue; or
- your material breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
This doesn't apply to the extent a claim comes from our own conduct (for example, a defect in the Service or our failure to follow these Terms), and it doesn't take away any right the law doesn't let you give up. We'll tell you about any such claim and let you take part in the defense.
16. Disputes
16.1 Talk to us first. Before filing a claim, email support@relayreply.com with your name, the problem and what you want. We'll try to resolve it within 60 days.
16.2 Arbitration. If we can't, you and we agree to resolve disputes by binding individual arbitration under the Federal Arbitration Act, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitrator decides questions of scope and enforceability, except as 16.4 says. For claims under $10,000, we pay the filing fees. Hearings can be by video or phone.
16.3 Exceptions. Either side may bring an individual claim in small claims court, and either side may go to court for intellectual-property misuse or to stop unauthorized use of the Service.
16.4 No class actions. Claims are brought only individually, not as a class, collective or representative action. If this waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to court, not arbitration.
16.5 Opt out. You can opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms by emailing support@relayreply.com with your name and account email.
16.6 Law and courts. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York and federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any court case goes to the state or federal courts in Nassau County, New York.
17. General
17.1 Entire agreement. These Terms (with the documents in 1.3) are the whole agreement about the Service.
17.2 Assignment. You can't transfer these Terms. We may transfer them with our business.
17.3 Severability; no waiver. If a part is unenforceable, the rest stands. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver.
17.4 Notices. We send notices to your account email or in the app. You send notices to support@relayreply.com or the address in 1.1.
17.5 Accessibility. If you need these Terms in another format, contact support@relayreply.com.
17.6 Contact. Support, legal notices and misuse reports: support@relayreply.com. TooAvid Technologies LLC, 5500 Sunrise Highway, Unit 50 #1108, Massapequa, NY 11758.
